The little black jacket from Chanel on Sophie Hulme, styled by me, photographed by Oliver Stalmans for STYLEBY. Makeup: Sophia Erichsen, Hair: Sherin.

I know 2012 is over and now is the time to focus on the new year but flipping through pictures from some of the work I’ve done during this past year I’m just so grateful I get to do what I do. I love my job, I really do, and 2012 has opened up so many possibilities for me. This editorial is very special for me, not only beacuse of the fact that I got the opportunity to style with little black jackets from Chanel (!) but this shoot was so hard to pull together. Before we actually were at the studio with the whole crew everything that could go wrong did..I mean, everything. But we did pull it together and the shoot went well. Me and my assistant, Petter, almost couldn’t believe it when we left the studio. Our model could only stay for 5 hours and we needed 5 perfect pictures+cover(!). Now, I don’t know if you know how long these shoots usually are and, of course, it has to do with a lot of different circumstances but 5 hours including hair and make up..well, that’s not much.

I’ve done stuff I couldn’t dream of doing this year and it’s amazing to actually feel that I have grown so much on many levels. I still have a lot more to learn though, strengths to develope, as well as weeknessess to work with. You’re never complete, you can always learn more and do better and for me that’s something I like with this job, It’s a constant challenge. But sometimes you also need to stop for a minute and give yourself a pat on the shoulder, to know that you did good. That’s a lesson I take with me from 2012. And I will work harder. And do things better. I don’t ever want to stop growing. I hope you feel the same way, even if you don’t have your dream job at the moment or know what you want yet. But don’t be afraid to develope and use your own personal strengts AND to take a leap every now and then. It’s a good chance you might succeed.

You're a huuuuge inspiration (and I don't just say that to everyone) and I hope you know that there are many "readers" of StyleBy out there who don't speak a word Swedish, but they buy the magazine anyway, just to see your styling. Including me :) You should really pat yourself on the shoulder for that, 'cause I'm pretty sure there's no other magazine out there who get that kind of "non-readers" :) Great great GREAT job!!! Jennifer

You are the right person in the right place and you do a gret job! I couldn't wait for this photo shoot since you have showed us preview. Looks Amazing! Keep going & surprising us. Thanks for sharing this, Columbine. I was going thru the iPad version of Styleby (I love it) a couple of days ago and I just realised how much you had worked, how many stories you had styled in the last issue. You're doing a great job, and you do work hard and you really deserve a pat on the shoulder as well as some vacation! Many kisses from Switzerland, G.

Such nice touching words Columbine; couldn't have put it better myself! It IS so important to give yourself a pat on the back and not to be too hard on yourself when things seem to be out of whack. :) This will be something I will constantly remind myself for 2013 I think. Now. THE JEANS. Oh god, the jeans. Love all the shots here of your styling work, just WOW.
    columbine- 3 January, 2013 at 01:46
Yes, it really is, it's so important to remember those moments to be able to grow stronger. Yes, the jeans are amaze! Take care, C
